Okay, real talk: how many photocards of Namjoon do you actually need to tape to your wall before it starts looking less like a “dedicated shrine” and more like a “mugshot wall”? I’ve been there. My room used to look like Hobi’s Hope World exploded, but in a chaotic, messy way rather than an artistic one.
If you’re anything like me, you want your space to scream “I love BTS” without actually, you know, screaming. You want it to feel cozy, personal, and full of that Bangtan magic. So, I put together a list of 10 super fun (and mostly easy) DIY crafts that will turn your room into the ultimate ARMY cave. Grab your glue gun, put on your favorite playlist, and let’s get crafting! 🙂
1. The “Inner Child” Lyric Canvas
This is for when you want your walls to give you a daily hug.
What you’ll need:
- A small blank canvas (any size works!)
- Acrylic paint in your favorite colors
- A paintbrush or sponge
- A black sharpie or paint pen
Let’s do this:
First, slap some paint on that canvas. Don’t overthink it! I usually just do some abstract stripes or a messy galaxy effect because, let’s be honest, I’m not exactly Picasso. The point is to create a colorful background. Let it dry completely.
Once it’s dry, grab your sharpie and write out a lyric that hits you right in the feels. I used “You got me, I got you” from “We Are Bulletproof: The Eternal” on mine, and every time I look at it, I feel that connection to the boys and to all of you. You could also use “I’m the one I should love in this world” from “Epiphany.” It’s simple, it’s personal, and it’s way cheaper than buying a poster.
2. BT21 Oreo Night Light Jars
Ever wondered why a simple night light can make a room feel ten times cozier? It’s science, I guess. But also, it’s BT21. Making these little guys is ridiculously easy and the result is just pure serotonin.
Gather your supplies:
- Clean, empty glass jars (pasta sauce jars work great—just peel off the labels!)
- Yellow tissue paper
- Mod Podge (or a mix of glue and water)
- A paintbrush
- Black cardstock
- LED tea lights (never real candles, safety first, fam!)
Here’s the magic:
Tear the yellow tissue paper into small squares. Using your paintbrush, apply a layer of Mod Podge to a small section of the jar and stick the paper on. Overlap the pieces a bit for a cool, textured look. Once the jar is fully covered, seal it with another layer of Mod Podge.
While that’s drying, cut out Koya’s, Shooky’s, or Mang’s face features from the black cardstock. Once the jar is dry, glue the faces on. Pop in an LED tea light, and boom—you’ve got a little BT21 buddy lighting up your room. I have Koya on my nightstand, and he’s the best listener when I’m overthinking at 2 AM.
3. Repurposed Album CDs as Dreamcatchers
Okay, this is for the ARMYs who, like me, have bought three versions of the same album and now have a stack of CDs they never listen to. Don’t let them gather dust!
Materials:
- Old BTS album CDs (the WINGS or LY: Answer discs look especially cool)
- Yarn or thick string in your group color (purple, obvs!)
- Beads, feathers, or small charms
- A hot glue gun
Craft time:
First, tie a long piece of yarn around the CD to make a hanging loop at the top. Then, start wrapping the yarn around the CD, going through the hole in the middle. Think of it like you’re making a web. It doesn’t have to be perfect—the messy look is totally in. Once you’ve covered the CD to your liking, tie it off securely.
From the bottom, glue or tie on some strings with beads and feathers. This hangs so beautifully in a window and catches the light. It’s functional decor and a great way to rep those albums you worked so hard to collect.
4. “Mikrokosmos” Mason Jar Fairy Lanterns
This craft is basically a physical representation of “you got me, I got you.” It’s all about the little lights that make up our city.
What you need:
- Mason jars
- Wire (thin, easy-to-bend kind)
- Small battery-operated fairy lights
- Tiny paper or clay hearts
- A hot glue gun
Let’s get to it:
Take your wire and form it into a handle for the mason jar, twisting it around the rim. This isn’t strictly necessary, but it makes it look super cute and rustic. Now, glue the little hearts randomly around the inside or outside of the jar.
Cram the fairy lights inside. When you turn them on, the lights will glow through the hearts. Place a few of these around your room, and it’ll feel like you’re looking down at a city at night. Corny? Maybe. Do I tear up a little every time I see them? Absolutely. IMO, that’s the point.
5. Custom Member Button Magnets
If you’re like me and you have a million duplicates of those tiny photocard sets, this is the perfect solution. They deserve to be seen, not just stored in a binder!
Supplies:
- Small circular photos of the members (punch them out with a 1-inch circle punch for precision)
- Clear 1-inch button covers (the kind for making magnets or pins)
- Small round magnets
- Strong glue (like EPOXY or E6000—Mod Podge won’t hold a magnet)
- Scissors
How to make them:
Pop the photo into the clear button cover according to the package instructions—it usually involves a metal top and a clear plastic cover. Once your little button is assembled, glue a magnet to the back.
Now your fridge, locker, or metal headboard can be permanently guarded by Kim Seokjin’s face. I have Yoongi on my filing cabinet, judging me while I work. It keeps me focused. :/
6. The “Magic Shop” String Art
This one takes a little patience, but the final product is so worth it. It’s minimalist, chic, and totally ARMY.
You’ll need:
- A square piece of wood (a stained or painted finish looks best)
- Small nails (like finishing nails)
- A hammer
- Embroidery floss or thin string (purple or black)
- A printed template of the BTS logo or the ARMY bomb logo
Here’s the plan:
Lightly tape your paper template onto the wood. Hammer the nails in along the outline of the logo, spacing them about half an inch apart. This is the most time-consuming part, so maybe put on a BTS World OST playlist to keep you going.
Once all the nails are in, carefully tear the paper template away. Tie your string to one nail and start weaving it back and forth across the design, looping it around nails to create a “filled-in” look. You can do it randomly, or try to create a specific pattern. When you’re happy with the density, tie it off. It looks so modern and artistic, no one will believe you made it yourself.
7. Bangtan Bomb Photo Clips
This is the perfect way to display your favorite selcas without putting holes in your walls. It’s also a rotating gallery, so you can switch it up whenever your bias wrecker changes (which is every day for me, help).
Materials:
- A length of pretty twine or thin rope
- Mini wooden clothespins (you can find them at any craft store)
- Fairy lights (optional, but highly recommended)
- Command hooks
Assembly:
Put two Command hooks on your wall, spaced apart however wide you want your display to be. Tie the twine between them, pulling it taut so it doesn’t sag too much.
Now, print out some of your favorite Bangtan photos (or pull those duplicate photocards!). Use the mini clothespins to clip them to the string. For extra coziness, weave a string of fairy lights through the photos. The lights make the whole thing glow, and your pictures look like little treasures. It’s simple, but it totally transforms a boring wall.
8. Painted Album Frame
We all have that one album with cover art we absolutely adore (looking at you, HYYH series). Instead of hiding it on a shelf, why not make it the focal point?
What you need:
- An inexpensive picture frame (larger than your album)
- Acrylic paint
- Painter’s tape
- Your favorite BTS album
Let’s craft:
Take the glass out of the frame (you won’t need it). Use painter’s tape to mask off the edges of the frame’s backing, leaving the center open where the album will sit. Paint the frame itself in a color that complements the album art. Maybe a deep mustard for WINGS or a soft pastel for BE.
Once the paint is dry, remove the tape. Place your album in the center of the backing. You can even use a tiny bit of removable mounting putty to hold it in place if you’re worried about it falling. Hang it up! It looks like a custom piece of art, because it is. See? You’re an artist.
9. Sewn Kookie Shooky Pillow
Not a sewer? Neither am I, really. But this is a “no-sew” project, so we’re safe. It’s the perfect little buddy for your bed or your “crying on the floor” spot.
Supplies:
- Yellow fleece fabric
- Black felt
- Pillow stuffing
- Fabric glue (the strong stuff!)
- Scissors
How to do it:
Cut two identical square or circle shapes from the yellow fleece. This will be the front and back of your pillow. Cut out Shooky’s angry little eyebrows, eyes, and mouth from the black felt.
Use the fabric glue to stick the face onto one of the yellow pieces. Let it dry completely—this is important, or his face will fall off and he’ll just be a sad, faceless cookie. Once it’s dry, glue the two yellow pieces together, leaving a gap at the bottom. Let it dry, then stuff it! Glue the gap shut. You now have a grumpy little cookie to hug.
10. The “Purple You” Wall Hanging
Last but not least, the most iconic phrase in our fandom. This is a super trendy piece of decor that’s basically just weaving fabric on a stick. It sounds fancy, but I promise it’s easy.
Gather this:
- A wooden dowel or a straight stick from outside
- Yarn in various shades of purple (and maybe a pop of pink or blue)
- Scissors
The weaving part:
Cut several long strands of yarn (about 2-3 yards each). Tie them onto the dowel using a lark’s head knot. Do this with all your yarn, alternating colors until the dowel is full.
Now, simply braid the yarn! You can do simple three-strand braids, twist strands together, or just let some hang free. The beauty of this is that there’s no right or wrong way. It’s supposed to look organic and a little messy. Once you’re happy with the design, trim the bottoms to make them even. Tie a piece of yarn to each end of the dowel to hang it up.
Every time I look at mine, I’m reminded that we purple you. It’s a soft, subtle way to bring the love into your space without being too on-the-nose.
So, there you have it! Ten ways to turn your room into the ARMY sanctuary it deserves to be. Which one are you going to try first? I’m personally thinking about making another one of those “Magic Shop” string art pieces because my first one came out a little… crooked. But hey, that’s the beauty of DIY, right? It’s all about the love you put into it.
Now, go forth and create something beautiful. And don’t forget to blast Dynamite while you do it. Happy crafting, ARMY! 💜
